The Greyhound: Folkingham, Lincolnshire
A unique development of 10 individual luxury apartments within a Grade II* former 17th Century coaching inn, located in the picturesque village of Folkingham, Lincolnshire. With its impressive Georgian façade, the Greyhound apartments form the focal point of the village and conservation area.
The Greyhound Inn, as it used to be known, sprang to prominence during the 18th Century when the village became a key staging post on the Lincoln to London stagecoach route. Later on the Greyhound Inn was also used by the Magistrates Court of Kesteven to dispense justice for the area. Infact the prison cells below the courtroom can still be seen today and now form part of the accommodation for one of the apartments.
Inside the building retains much of the original features, including ornate plasterwork, inglenook fireplaces, timber panels and stone floors. Working closely with the conservation officers, English Heritage and specialist historic building consultants the 10 apartments have been sensitively accommodated without losing the original essence of the building.
Using time served traditional building methods the homes created are truly unique and create a seamless transition between old and new.
